Jim Ackerman
Lead Guitar, Rhythm Guitar, Lead Vocals, and Backup Vocals
Jim is one of the bands leaders and organizers. Jim comes from a family of musicians. His dad played trumpet professionally during the "big band era" and was once offered a job to play with the Guy Lombardo Orchestra. Jim's mother, a professional musician as well, played piano and sang with Danny Thomas. Jim's dad taught him to read music at a young age. In the mid 70's, Jim studied Andres Segovia style classical guitar in college under Jack Moncrief and Lee Diemont. He has performed with many bands throughout his musical career. Also played as a solo artist at Greenfield Village and has been featured with Opera Lite. He is also a member of the band, JD Groove. Jim has done studio work as well.
Bob Naiman
Bass Guitar, Keyboard, Lead Vocals and Backup Vocals
Bob is a co-founder of the group and has an extensive background playing with the legends of Motown including The Four Tops, Temptations, Diana Ross, J.J. Jackson and The OJays. He has also performed with Mitch Ryder, Bob Seger and Eric Clapton. His bass can be heard on several Motown recordings as well as those of other local artists. His television appearances include Swing Lively out of Lansing and Swinging Time with Robin Seymour. Bob was a former member of The Noblemen, The Dead End Kids and Five O'clock Traffic.
Dave Sanchez
Saxophone, (alto, baritone and tenor.) Lead Vocals, Backup Vocals, Rhythm and Percussion
No one plays saxophone(s) like Dave. He is one of Detroit's most sought after horn players. Dave is the music director for a local school district. A solo from Dave will melt your cares away and put the jump back in your jump, jive and wail!. He has performed at Carnegie Hall and the Montreaux Jazz Festivals in Detroit and Switzerland. In addition to being the front man for The As Is Band, Dave also adds dynamically to each performance by playing various rhythm and percussion instruments. Dave is also a co-founder of JD Groove.
Brian Roelandt
Saxophone (alto and tenor), Rhythm and Percussion. Backup Vocals.
Brian has played in several local bands including: Stuck on Six, the Eastside Brigade, and the Henry Ford Big Band. He has performed at the Montreaux Jazz Festivals in both Detroit and Switzerland. Brian is the award winning, highly acclaimed music director at Fitzgerald HS in Warren. His high energy and enthusiasm are infectious! Brian's great solo performances are considered among the most dynamic of our performances. He enhances virtually every song with additional rhythm and percussion intrumentation. We are very proud to have him!!!
Jordan Ackerman nickname "Adorable"
Drummer, Lead Vocals and Backup Vocals
Jordan has been playing drums since the age of five. He has performed with many notable groups in the Detroit area and is known for his charitable work. Jordan is currently attending Rochester College. He is an All-American athlete as well as one of the finest young drummers around.
George Canterbury
Keyboard, Lead Vocals and Backup Vocals
George's work has been featured locally in television and radio commercials and also for notable companies such as AC Delco, A&W Restaurants, Hanson’s Windows and McLaughlin Furniture, just to name a few.
George has recorded and performed live with many artists including Stillwater, Stewart Francke, Johnny Powers, and The Forbes Brothers. While with Stillwater, George performed and opened for Alabama, George Straight and The Judds at Joe Louis Arena. He has also performed at Pine Knob (DTE Energy Theater) with The Drifters and the Temptations and with Richard Marx at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Awards bestowed upon George include: Metro Times Music Award for Best Country Musician in 1994 and Metro Times Music Award for Outstanding Producer in 1999.
